Basic Fire Awareness Course

Aims & Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Basic Fire Awareness course is to equip all attendees with the required skills to understand the causes of fire and the importance of fire risk assessment.  The course will also cover the recognition and recommended use for fire fighting equipment, the course will emphasise the importance of personal safety throughout.  This course complies with the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997.

Maximum of 15attendees per Instructor
Cost of Training - £30 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.

Course Duration
3 Hours

Deliver Technique
This course is delivered via a range of techniques including:

  • Instructor Led Presentation
  • Group Discussion
  • Power Point
  • Video Presentation

The amount of different methods of presentation is flexible to suit the needs of the group.

Course Assessment
This course is subject to ongoing assessment by the Instructor throughout the course.  There is no final assessment.  The Instructor observes attendees practice sessions as the training progresses to ensure the required level of understanding.

Course Certification
All successful candidates will be awarded a certificate which will be valid for three years.

Fire Marshal/Warden
Who should attend?
Anyone with responsibility for assisting with emergency evacuation arrangements in their workplace, including fire co-ordinators, fire wardens/marshals, supervisors/managers with fire safety responsibilities or health and safety representatives from any type of organisation.

This 3 hour Fire Marshal Fire Safety training course fully meets The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.  This course provides delegates with a theoretical and practical understanding of the typical functions of a fire warden or fire marshal within a workplace.  Additionally, this course will give delegates an understanding of how fires start and propagate within buildings and the tools to assist with the development and implementation of emergency evacuation arrangements.

Our fire safety trainer is a professionally qualified ex Deputy Chief Fire Officer with a wealth of fire fighting and fire safety experience.  This is absolutely invaluable when advising organisations on compliance issues, preparing staff for discussions with the local fire brigade and to add realism to all our fire safety courses.

Managing Fire Safety & Fire Risk Assessment
This course has been designed specifically for those personnel who require a more detailed understanding of the legal requirements surrounding fire safety in the workplace including the new, Fire Safety Regulatory Reform Order 2006.
It is suitable for Business Owners, Managers and other Supervisory personnel.
To provide participants with an understanding of the legal requirements surrounding fire safety in the workplace with particular emphasis placed on the conducting of fire risk assessments as required by the Fire Regulatory Reform Order, 2006.
Cost of Training - £50 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
All courses are priced per person
On successful completion of a course all delegates will receive a valid Certificate.

Fire Awareness & Extinguisher Training

Course: Fire Awareness & Extinguisher Training.

Who Should Attend: The law requires all employed personnel to have adequate fire safety training.

Location: On your premises     

Course Duration: 3 hours (course date and course time to suit you)

Instructor Details: All of our instructors have at least 10 years service in one of the UK Fire Services.

Information on the Course:

This course has been designed to give personnel the necessary information, knowledge and training for them to be competent in basic fire safety.

Course Content:
The course consists of:

  • Fire precautions regulations/legislation
  • Chemistry of fire and how it spreads
  • Types and classifications of fire
  • Common causes of fire
  • Hazard spotting/hazard reduction
  • Fire extinguishers: Theory
  • Fire extinguishers: Practical use of the Bullex Training System.
  • The course will be supported with various video clips demonstrating the different effects and the serious nature of fire.
  • Outcome:   Once complete, staff members who have attended this course will be able to apply good fire safety practice at work and correctly operate fire-fighting equipment.  All delegates receive a comprehensive course handbook, and certificate.
  • Group size of a maximum 15 delegates per session.

  • HSE First Aid at Work Course

Aims & Objectives
The aims and objectives of the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) First Aid at Work course are to enable individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency situation.  Following the course the attendees will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness, until the emergency services arrive.  Each on site course is tailored around your workplace where possible.

General Information
Maximum of 12 attendees per Instructor
Cost of Training - £160 per person (Group discounts available) for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.

Course Duration
24 Hours (4 Days)
This can be broken down into blocks of various hours to suit your requirements.  Training must be completed over a maximum of six weeks.

  • Group Discussion
  • Power Point
  • Video Presentation

The amount of different methods of presentation is flexible to suit the needs of the group.

Course Assessment
All attendees are required to undertake an assessment on the final day of the course; both practical and theory aspects will be assessed.  The assessments are carried out by two external assessors who have not been involved in the teaching of the course.  Our assessors are trained to carry out the assessments in a low stress environment and to instil confidence into all attendees.

Course Certification
All successful attendees will be awarded a certificate approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), this certificate is valid for three years.

  •  A room that will comfortably seat your amount of attendees and allow for floor practice for the duration of the course
  • Two additional assessment areas on the final afternoon of the course
  • Cost of Training - £160 per person (Group discounts available) for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • HSE First Aid at Work Re-qualification Course
  • The aims and objectives of the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) First Aid at Work course are to enable individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency situation.  Each on site course is tailored around your workplace where possible.
  • A copy of a valid in date First Aid at Work Certificate for each attendee is required prior to the training (in some cases we can re-qualify an individual up to one month after their certificate has expired.
  • Cost of Training - £90 per person (Group discount available), for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) User Course
  • The aims and objectives of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) User course is to equip the attendee with all the skills and knowledge required to recognise the need for using the AED and how to use this life saving piece of equipment in an emergency.
  • Cost of Training - £80 per person for the complete training package including certificate, manuals and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • Appointed Person in Schools First Aid Course
  • The aims and objectives of the Appointed Person in Schools First Aid course is to provide the attendee with the essential skills required to carry out the basic life support required to save and adult or child’s life until the emergency services arrive.  All attendees will gain an understanding of the importance of how and when to activate the emergency services.
  • Cost of Training - £20 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • Appointed Person in Care Homes First Aid Course
  • The aims and objectives of the Appointed Person in Care Homes First Aid course is to provide the attendees with the essential skills required to carry out basic life support necessary to save an adults life until the emergency services arrive.  All attendees will gain an understanding of the importance of how and when to activate the emergency services.
  • Cost of Training - £20 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Course
  • The aims and objectives of the 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid course are to enable those persons working within childcare with a sound knowledge and understanding of adult, child and baby first aid procedures.  All attendees will also be able to recognise childhood medical conditions and carry out the correct emergency treatment required until medical professionals arrive to assist.
  • Cost of Training - £50 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including comprehensive training manual, certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
  • Manual Handling Course Description
  • The aims and objectives of this course are to give the attendees the opportunity to rethink the way they lift and handle items in a working environment.  To explore safer ways of lifting and moving objects and enable them to understand the importance of the need to plan the in which to carry out tasks with the opportunity to practice kinetic methods in the work place.
  • Cost of Training - £30 per person (Group discount available) for the complete training package including certificate and all training aids for use throughout the course.
